This is a new, low cost concept to allow large mammal biologists a chance to convert to GPS collars any VHF collar large enough to accommodate the pod. The pod can be built using either our Quantum 4000 or our Quantum 4000 Enhanced GPS products. VHF transmitter not withstanding, all of the features of those products are represented in the pod concept.

The GPS, control circuit, and batteries are all self-contained inside the pod so that you have no worries, simply punch 4 holes in your VHF collars and rivet the pods on. We even provide you with a template so you punch the holes in the right place and we provide the rivets and rivet gun too.

These GPS units are encased in a rugged housing cast from polyurethane. For added strength, the housing has a wall thickness of 5 mm. The GPS electronic/battery assembly is surrounded by a waterproof gel. This gel not only protects the GPS electronics and battery pack from moisture but also from shock. In the event of trauma to the housing no energy will be transmitted to the electronics or battery pack.

The pods are user programmable. The remote data download option is available. But for those of you that are on a very strict budget you can acquire the store on board version for less than $900 U.S.D. Telemetry Solutions can replace the batteries for you at a very reasonable price so this is a wise investment not only for now but also for your future projects.
