It works like this

Track the animals using your existing VHF receiver. The remote data download feature works like this. Your study animals are wearing Telemetry Solutions Quantum™ 4000 ENHANCED GPS collars and you, the wildlife biologist, track those animals via the VHF beacons in the GPS collars. You can do this wildlife tracking using your existing VHF receiver. We build the GPS collars with VHF beacons on frequencies that you designate therefore your existing VHF receivers are compatible.

The Quantum™ 4000 ENHANCED is ready and waiting for your command. The Quantum™ 4000 ENHANCEDGPS collar contains a 420 MHz transceiver that looks for your command once every 30 seconds.
Using your PDA, you select the command that will instruct your GPS collar to download data. That command is transmitted from your 420 MHz antenna out to the collar. Then a two way link, or handshake, is established between the transceiver that you have with you and the one in the Quantum™ 4000 ENHANCED GPS collar. After that the GPS data stored in the collar will be transmitted to you at the rate of 2500 positions per minute.

Real time transmission statistics - repeat your download if needed!

That transmitted data will be stored in your PDA's SD card. After the transmission is complete you can view the transmission statistics on your PDA. If you are satisfied with the data transmission you can proceed and track the next animal for its data.

The Quantum 4000 Enhanced GPS, our newest platform, available with UHF remote data download option. This option only adds an amazing 3 grams to the total product weight!

The Quantum 4000 Enhanced is very lightweight and has a narrow footprint, therefore it can be applied to very small species. With the lightest GPS antenna available it works well in open sky environments. If that's not where you work then we step up to the next antenna adding a little weight and size. We can use very small batteries so that it works on birds or, if you are working on small mammals, we have many other battery choices. Weight and performance increase as the battery size increases.

This is a very flexible platform available as a collar or a backpack... or a rhino horn implant!
