We offer GPS collars in a wide variety of sizes, shapes and weights as well as download technologies. And we tailor your GPS telemetry collars for your work. Starting with a miniature tracking device capable of acquiring GPS locations in the most difficult conditions we add wireless data download, activity sensors or Smart GPS to enhance data sets and prolong the battery life of even our smallest tracking collars.
Some collars include a VHF tracking beacon while others offer it as an option. If there are both GPS and a tracking beacon in the collar they are powered from separate batteries. That means peace of mind for you when you are in the field using the tracking beacon to locate animals. Our user software is a powerful tool enabling you to program your collars in almost any way imaginable. To read more in depth about this device please click on the How It Works Button below.
For large mammals, consider our GPS Iridium collar with satellite communication. It will automatically send GPS data from the collar memory to a secure website and your email inbox. Data uploads are scheduled depending upon your needs.
Repeat mode is simple, you choose an interval at which your GPS data logger will turn on. The interval can be set to any combination of minutes and hours from 2 minutes to 48 hours, 59 minutes.
Template mode enables you to program specific times and dates for positioning and this is very powerful, not restricting you to program every day like every other day. You schedule as many positions into the day as you like and save it as a template. Then apply that template to the days in the year which should follow the schedule in that template. Create up to 20 unique templates to apply into the programming year. Don't forget that you may also choose to create a template with no positioning. That way you can have days with no GPS positioning scheduled if that is what you need.
Always on mode allows you to choose a time and date in the future at which the GPS module will turn on and stay on. These programming modes are yours at any time, our products are built so that you can use any of these modes. There is no need for you to decide upon one or another at the time you place your order.
Your GPS module contains a memory that stores GPS data. Depending upon which product choice you make, FLR V or 4000E ou will recover the GPS data either by locating the collar and getting within range of a download or in the case of the FLR V you also have the choice to leave the base station in the field where the study animal will come within range and the data will be downloaded automatically. The 4000E can also be downloaded automatically without a human present by using the automatic download option. Please click this link to watch a video describing the remote data download in more detail.
Downloaded data can be viewed in UTMs, degrees/minutes/seconds, decimal degrees or as a KML file that you can map directly to Google Earth. Another alternative is to upload your data to our secure website and view it in Google Maps. This feature associates your map with a secure URL that can easily be shared.
