With this technology, GPS data stored on every device will automatically be transmitted wirelessly to a special base station. That‘s the brilliance of this system: it‘s fully automated and runs without users. When a base station and GPS unit are in proximity and new information appear on the unit, it wanders over to the base station to just be retrieved by the biologist.

The system can accommodate multiple base stations that will collect data with our user software. While the maximum range is 40 km, this will differ under practical field conditions. With line-of-sight linkage, the range is 25 km, which can be extremely reliable and far in excess of expectations, with good-quality data transmission.
